Based on massive user complaint data and a multi‑dimensional quality‑performance research model, the released *Research on Quality Performance of China’s New‑Energy Vehicle Three‑Electric Systems (2023)* deeply explored users’ perceptions and attitudes toward three‑electric‑system quality issues and interpreted quality performance from the perspective of user experience. The research covered 24 vehicle brands, 19 powertrain suppliers and 22 battery‑system suppliers.
Key findings of the research are as follows:
Complaints concerning three‑electric systems of new‑energy vehicles kept rising overall. A total of 4,764 complaints were recorded from January to October 2023, exceeding the full‑year figure of 2022 and representing a 63% year‑on‑year increase.

Battery‑electric vehicles accounted for the largest share of three‑electric‑system complaints, while complaints for plug‑in hybrid electric vehicles surged by 125% year‑on‑year.
Failures tended to occur at an early stage of vehicle usage. 66.4% of three‑electric‑system malfunctions took place within one year after purchase, and failures were most frequent within a mileage range of 3,000‑10,000 kilometers.

Complaints for battery‑electric, plug‑in hybrid and extended‑range vehicles all mainly centered on power‑battery failures, inaccurate driving‑range readings and charging malfunctions.
According to the research, traction batteries are high‑value core components of new‑energy vehicles. Users are highly sensitive to battery quality, which easily triggers disputes with after‑sales service providers over fault resolution. Charging failures directly impair driving experience and have a low tolerance threshold among users.
This study also matched vehicle‑level quality performance with supplier brands, and analyzed the quality performance of powertrain and battery‑system suppliers across two market segments: economy‑grade and mid‑to‑high‑end. The final results are shown below:
